Backpack from Islip Saddle to Little Jimmy campground. Because of
the heat in So. Calif. in the summer we chose this short backpack.
Boy, was that first mile steep, treeless and hot. After that the
hike was very pleasant. After setting up camp, we had a relaxed
afternoon...napping. After dinner, we took an evening hike to Mt.
Islip (8250ft) where we was the most spectacular sunset I've seen in a
long time. On our way back we brought enough firewood to create a
bonfire (which we didn't make). We did have fun around the fire,
then crashed. Sunday morning we broke camp, hiked quickly down the
hill, then headed back for a traditional In-and-Out Burger lunch.
I think this was probably the best weekend backpack we've had yet!!!!
